If you wish to spend your holidays at an exotic destination, where you can enjoy the sun and long hours of complete relaxation, Bora Bora is the place you’re looking for. This picturesque island belongs to the Leeward group of islands in the western part of the Society Islands of French Polynesia. Bora Bora boasts amazing beaches and nature beauties which you simply have to visit. In order to help you make up your mind, we have singled out several must-sees in Bora Bora.

1. Matira Beach

The Matira Beach is the most popular public beach in Bora Bora. Here, you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere lying in the sun or in the natural shade of palm trees. If you are eager for some action while staying here, we heartily recommend that you try out snorkelling. The Matira Beach is also perfect for families with small children, since the water is warm and shallow. On top of that, the seafloor is flat and sandy, without corals, so you can freely walk while enjoying yourself.

2. Mount Otemanu

Mount Otemanu is the highest point on Bora Bora. It forms, together with Mount Pahia, the remnants of an extinct volcano. The best way to explore this wonderful place is by hiking, but be aware that it is impossible to climb to the summit since the volcanic rock is too fragile. However, another option is to embark on a “4×4” tour, since the jungle is pretty thick here, so hiking would only be appealing to true adventurers and nature enthusiasts. Once the adventure is over, our advice for you is to find a place to relax and regain your strength, and our suggestion is the amazing InterContinental Bora Bora Resort and Thalasso Spa, located on an islet facing the Mount Otemanu.

3. Bora Bora Lagoonarium

The Bora Bora Lagoonarium is a natural aquarium in which you can see diverse sea life. It’s located on a small island near the St. Regis Resort. The best thing is that you can also snorkel in the lagoonarium and experience a close encounter with various species in their natural habitat. You will get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to swim with sharks, turtles and stingrays. And, if you have children, this is the perfect place for them to discover the ocean’s beauties, since you will hardly ever find a more charming place than this one.

4. Tupitipiti Point

One of the most famous diving sites in Bora Bora is Tupitipiti Point, located in the southern part of the Island. It is famous for its purple corals and diverse wildlife. You can often encounter sharks, stingrays and parrotfish. This dive site also stands out among all others, since this is the only place you can see a very unusual creature – the hammerhead shark. Due to its strong currents and steep slopes it´s more suitable for experienced divers. However, even if you’re not a professional diver, you can always hire an experienced instructor. The beauty of this place makes it very romantic, so it’s not a surprise that many newlyweds choose this location for their honeymoon.

5. Bora Bora Pearl Company

Another place worth visiting is the Farm at the Bora Bora Pearl Company. Here, you will have the opportunity to discover the mysteries of the Tahitian cultured pearl. The Farm allows you to witness all the stages of pearl development. On top of that, there is a workshop as well, where you can get a special piece of jewellery created just for you while you’re watching. You can choose the design and the precious material, so, in the end, you will get a unique piece of jewellery that reflects your personality.
