We’re all about traveling light, but with that comes certain challenges. One of the biggest challenges is having to pack another bag inside our 20L travel backpack for day trips and other excursions once we arrive in our destination. Last year we discovered the Tortuga Packable Daypack, which provided us with ample storage for everything we needed for a day, and it packed up nicely inside our larger 20L backpack. However, it left a few things to be desired, such as a more water resistant exterior material and additional storage compartments. Enter NeatPack: a foldable, packable travel daypack with numerous built in zippered compartments for added storage, including a secret zippered pocket at the bottom, and a water resistant exterior material. Here is our review of the NeatPack daypack and a promo code at the bottom for 10% off your purchase.
What is NeatPack?
NeatPack is a travel products company created by two sisters, similar to ourselves, who live on opposite sides of the world. They have a passion for travel and organization and created this company to help others stay organized on their trips and reduce the stress of packing. They are a relatively new brand and are constantly innovating and creating, from backpacks to packing cubes to everything in between!
What we like about the NeatPack travel daypack
One of our biggest qualms with our previous travel daypack, the Tortuga Packable Daypack, was the lack of a water resistant exterior. Sure, you can buy a waterproof backpack cover, but in case you forget to bring it with you or it rains unexpectedly when you’re stuck out on a hike all day, it’s nice to have the backup of an already water resistant exterior so you don’t need to worry about your laptop, camera, and other valuables becoming damaged by water.
Another feature we love about our NeatPack travel daypack is the secret zippered pocket on the bottom of the daypack. As it is hidden away at the bottom of the daypack, it is perfect for storing valuables such as your passport, cash, and wallet. Alternatively, if you’re simply using the daypack for a quick trip to the beach, you could also use this compartment for wet towels or flip flops that you may wish to keep separate from your other belongings.
Since we only travel with a backpack, a good travel daypack for us must be able to fold up to a very small size. Not only does the NeatPack travel daypack fold into itself to a fraction of its size, but there is also a handle conveniently located on its exterior, so rather than packing it inside our larger backpack, we merely hook it onto the outside of our backpack with a carabiner clip. This way, we get to bring an extra travel daypack for day trips without reducing any space inside our larger backpack.
Finally, we love that the Neatpack travel daypack is a truly versatile bag. We had the opportunity to test it out on our recent trip to New York City last weekend. From attending the New York Times Travel Show to walking around Times Square and strolling across the High Line, our NeatPack travel daypack carried everything we needed, including a laptop, charger, camera, extra layers, notebook, and travel materials received from the travel show.
As we just received our product recently, we cannot speak to durability just yet. We have plans to travel extensively this year to 17 countries (at a minimum), so we will provide you with an update on the durability of this product after a few more trips.
What would make the NeatPack travel daypack even better
Currently, NeatPack only delivers to the United States, so some of you may not be able to purchase their products. By expanding their delivery worldwide, they could become a key player in the travel products and travel accessories industry and easily compete with larger brands such as Tortuga, especially since NeatPack has created a better product.
Where to buy & cost
In addition to the many features we love about the NeatPack travel daypack, we also love the convenience with which to purchase NeatPack products and its competitive price point. NeatPack products are sold on Amazon, and the travel daypack currently sells at a price point between $15-20 USD, depending on the color. This is a huge discount from our previous Tortuga daypack, which sold at $35+ USD. Plus, with our promo code ‘MVM10OFF,’ you can receive an additional 10% off your purchase.
Since we have Amazon Prime, which provides customers with free 2-day shipping, we received our product in only two days’ time and were able to bring it with us on our most recent trip to New York City. We also plan to bring it on our upcoming trips to San Francisco, the UK & Ireland, and Southeast Asia to further test its durability in various climates.
Other products by NeatPack
NeatPack also manufactures other products, such as water resistant packing cubes, toiletry bags, and sling bags. Their products come in a variety of colors, depending on the product. For instance, the travel daypack comes in black, blue, red, purple, and green. You can buy all of their products directly from Amazon.
Conclusion
In sum, the NeatPack travel daypack is the best travel daypack we’ve found to date. The features we love most about the daypack are its foldability, its water resistant exterior, its secret zippered compartment at the bottom of the daypack, its versatility, and its affordable price point. Great review! We had a similar packable daypack by Eddie Bauer and used it everyday during our 6 month trip. It held up great but toward the end of the trip you could see the inner lining was starting to disintegrate a bit. For constant use I think it performed great, considering we got it for $10 on sale. If the neatpack makes it through your 17 country trip then I think it would be safe to say it’s a durable product. Looking forward to seeing your updated review!
You definitely got your money’s worth with that Eddie Bauer pack! I’ll certainly let you know how the NeatPack holds up after my 17 country stint. 🙂
I was just checking these out for our upcoming trip! I am so glad you liked them.
I would highly recommend them, Leah! They’re great for kids too since they’re so light and easy to handle.
Great review! I usually travel with a trolley but good to know.

Thanks, Midori! I travel with a larger backpack, but it’s always handy to have a smaller daypack with me to go out exploring during the day.
The NeatPack travel daypack sounds like something I would possibly invest in (I don’t live in the US though). I like the idea of the secret zippered pocket on the bottom. I’m off to Nepal in October and when you’re deep in the heart of the mountains with a bundle of Rupees it’s always good to have a secret stash. It’s a good idea. Nice review. thanks for sharing!
Yes, the biggest bummer is that they don’t ship outside the U.S. Hopefully they’ll fix that soon. The bottom zippered pocket would definitely come in handy for you on your treks!
Thanks for the review! I’ve been looking for something like this. I always want to take an extra bag, but I always feel like it’s going to take up too much space.
This is perfect for you then! I just fold it up and clip it to the outside of my backpack so it takes up no space at all!
The hidden pocket is a such a good idea and I like the extra case. Seems like a worthwhile investment if it makes it through all 17 countries! Happy travels
I’ll keep you posted on the status of my NeatPack after my 17 country stint!
Oh great review. I love trying out new bags. I’ll have to consider trying this one out soon
Thanks, Jean. I’d love to hear how you like it.
What perfect timing! I was actually just looking for a fantastic day pack for my upcoming trip to Greece. I’m going to have to check this one out and see if I can get it in time! Thanks so much for the promo code! Love you ladies!
Perfect timing, Lynne! Let us know how you like it! And enjoy Greece!! 🙂
damn, water proof and cost effective. Sounds like I am trading in my beat up Tortuga for a better option! Thanks for the discount too
That’s what I’m saying! No problem – let me know how you like it.
Great review of this product! I’ve been looking for a new daypack and this might be just what I need!
Thanks, Tarah, let us know how you like it!
Great review of the product. I’ll check out these in my upcoming trip. Your content of the post is also very nice.
Thank you! I’d love to hear how you like it!
Looks like a great day pack! Thanks for sharing all your insights! When I get back home I’ll get one for the next trip!
Awesome – would love to hear how you like it!
This must be a good thing to invest in. My husband and I like this. We usually use our cute luggage.
This is a great investment, and I couldn’t believe how cheap it was actually. I’ve tried out much pricier daypacks, and I didn’t like them as much as the NeatPack. Thanks for reading! 🙂
Looks like a great bag. Great price for it too. It also looks very stylish 🙂
Yes – the price can’t be beat! I got the black one and it goes with everything! 🙂
This travel daypack seems to be useful. The secret zipper pocket at the bottom is a unique feature. Perfectly made keeping most important things in mind!
Completely agree! I love the secret zippered pocket at the bottom – it gives me a lot more assurance that my valuables are safe!
So affordable! I love how it’s black and sleek. Thanks for sharing, I’ll definitely check it out 🙂
Thanks, Carmen! Black is my go to color since it matches so easily with everything. 🙂 I would love to hear how you like it!
