• What We Loved, Hated, and Learned From Our 2017 Travels

2017 was a big year for us. Earlier this year we shared about our goal to travel to 17 countries in 2017, and we far surpassed that goal. As we reflect back on 2017, we decided again to provide you with the highlights from our year and answer your questions, rather than ramble on about every little experience we had on our travels. We hope you enjoy reminiscing about our 2017 travels as much as we do and that some of our stories inspire you to visit one of these incredible destinations in 2018. Here’s what we loved, hated, and…

  • Luxury Resort in Luang Prabang: Mekong Estate

As I flew into Luang Prabang a few months ago, I saw for the first time how beautiful Laos is. I felt immediately drawn to its mountainous landscape, greenery, and rivers, and later to its people and culture. When I arrived at Mekong Estate, my expectations were far surpassed. I was welcomed onto a gorgeous resort on the Mekong River with spacious residences, beautifully designed grounds covered in greenery, and an infinity pool looking out onto the river. For the next three days, my “home” was a luxury resort in Luang Prabang: Mekong Estate.

  • Where to Stay in Chiang Mai: De Lanna Boutique Hotel

The most ideal area to stay in Chiang Mai, Thailand is undoubtedly within Old City walls, and there is one hotel in particular that stands out as the best. I stayed at De Lanna Boutique Hotel for three nights and could not have asked for a more authentically Thai experience. The Lanna style hotel comes with beautifully designed rooms with private balconies, a restaurant and poolside bar, and lush greenery spread throughout the hotel grounds. If you’re wondering where to stay in Chiang Mai, look no further than De Lanna Boutique Hotel.

  • The Perfect 3 Day Itinerary for What to Do in Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai, Thailand is one of my favorite cities in Southeast Asia. With its abundance of beautiful temples, delicious Northern Thai cuisine, rich expat culture, and overall laid-back atmosphere, Chiang Mai is a city I could see myself revisiting time and time again. I would recommend adding at least three days in Chiang Mai to your Thailand itinerary, but if you have more time, you can easily stretch this itinerary over four or even five days, perhaps adding a Chiang Mai walking tour or a couple of day trips from Chiang Mai to your itinerary. Here is the perfect 3…

  • New Year’s Resolution: 17 Countries in 2017

One of our goals for 2017 is to travel to 17 countries, with 10 countries we’ve never traveled to before. Surprisingly – and contrary to our typical last minute planning – we have most of them mapped out already. Most notably, Diana will be traversing into unexplored territories in Southeast Asia, and Hope has successfully secured a summer internship in Berlin, one of our favorite cities in the world. We welcome any additional tips you may have in helping us reach our new year’s resolution of visiting 17 countries in 2017.

Our first upcoming international trip will be to Ireland in early March.…
